Friday Tunes
St. Vicent
Birth in Reverse
Leave it to Annie Clark, forever if possible, to electrify the mundane.
Over the past six years, the guitarist, who refers to her forthcoming self-titled fourth solo album
as "A party record you could play at a funeral," has become a master of
turning domestic images into vivid commentary—weird, militant licks
into wild declarations of both complicity and rebellion. (via)

Have you seen this? I immediately thought, "wow" when I did. Its by a photographer named, Marcin Ryczek who captured this amazing shot in Krakow. It looks like two separate photos, but, it is not. Amazing.

Engagement Rings and Things
A lot of my friends got engaged this holiday season and I couldn't be more happy for them. I love hearing the exciting proposal stories and seeing pictures of their beautiful diamond rings. I sometimes can't get enough with all the love and excitement oozing from these brides! It's so much FUN!
Then... I look down at my own finger.
I got married 2 1/2 years ago (3 years in MAY, WOOT!) and haven't worn my engagement ring for a year and a half of that time. I have a gorgeous solitaire diamond engagement ring with a sappy proposal story attached and its beautiful, fits me perfectly and I love it, but, I don't wear it.
I started wearing just my band which is simple, white gold and has a thin diagonal line of diamonds across it and to me, its perfect. I get asked a lot as to why I don't wear my engagement ring and I just brush it off or Scott answers that I lost it. (Which is untrue). When I was pregnant I ended up taking it off because my fingers were swelling and just never returned it to my finger. I love my simple band. I love how it looks and I love how it still shows I'm married.
I've noticed this being a trend while living in NYC. More and more women were just wearing their bands rather than the band and engagement ring. Maybe we're scared someone will mug us. :) Not likely. Then, I started thinking about the men. So, I asked my husband what he thinks about me having my engagement ring in a box (along with his high school football championship rings) in his drawer. He said he doesn't really mind, he likes how the single band looks classy. Phew! Note: If he mentioned that it did in fact bother him a great deal, I would absolutely put it on. No question.
My question is this... am I being a bad wife? Does it matter if you don't wear both of your rings at the same time and does anyone else wear just their band?
Love to hear.
Happy Hump Day, Friends!
Make it a good one.
Just to prove that I didn't lose my engagement ring. Here they are. Man, I need some damn lotion!
Now, don't ask if I've changed my last name yet. That's a whole different story. HA!

"You're Nothing To Me Until You're Everything"
American Hustle.
Have you seen it? You should, its terrific. I want to be best friends with JLaw. I want to ooze 70's chic like Amy Adams. I want to slap Christian Bale's stomach and I want to congratulate Bradley Cooper for a job really, really well done. The cast is superb!
If you haven't seen this movie yet -- go. Its freezing outside and movie theaters are warm and you can sneak some mini bottles of rum in for your diet coke.

Weekend WrapUp
Happy Monday. I guess. Its freakin FREEZING down here in North Carolina and I'm not appreciating it. I feel, that if you are going to have to endure harsh winter cold, you should be able to enjoy the beauty of snow and also the excitment of it. But, no... I am stuck here in brutal cold weather, its going to be 7 degrees tonight, with no snow in sight. DAMN!
So, since outdoor activities are tough in arctic chill I did something to make my insides warm and fuzzy. I made blueberry pancakes for huzbo and I. A whole big stack of them with bacon. We then watched an obscene amount of football. Thankfully I LOVE football.
Here is to a good week, everyone! If you find yourself down, whip up some blueberry pancakes... they really do make you feel MUCH better.

Its A New Year! Our week off in Pictures...
Happy New Year!
Our Christmas and New Year was very relaxing to say the least at my parents home in the woods. We celebrated with my parents, my sister and her fiance, Danny. My brother and his wife and two boys and three dogs. Loved it all!

Christmas Morning |
Sometimes I can't believe how much of a baby this dog of mine is. |
At our house we make monkey bread Christmas morning. Since Scott joined the family, it gets devoured much quicker... to Jill's dismay. |
Pops bought HIMSELF a pinball machine for Christmas. Says he's always wanted one, so he made that dream come true. Its awesome! |
We also got tickets to the CAPS (hockey) game in DC. the seats were unreal and we won! C A P S, CAPS CAPS CAPS! |
It may have been in the 40's, but that didn't stop us having family time in the hammock we bought for my parents. |
And here is how we rang in the new year. Scottie and Danny singing "New York, New York" at the top of their lungs. |
