Oktoberfest

We rode our beach cruisers through the city to partake in the Shirlington Oktoberfest! Thank god we got there early because by the time we left it was a mad house and most of the tasting kegs were kicked. We sampled about 5 each or so and then sat in the warm sun and had a great afternoon. We then biked to Crystal City and then home... I was literally dying. Beach Cruisers uphill aren't awesome. Beach cruisers on the beach are really awesome :) But, it was a great afternoon and we crashed hard that night. (oh and I literally fell off my bike, it was hilarious! I haven't done that since a kid and falling off a bike really puts you back into place, so funny!)

Happy Monday, Fools! We are sleeping all week until we get up and go to AUSTIN on Friday! YIPPEEEEE!
As most of you know I have been dealing with a stupid stomach issue that has put me in the hospital a few times and really messes up happiness and my social life! Well, I finally was approved to start a therapy where I get infusions. The infusions are of medicine that infuses my entire bloodstream and it takes about 3 hours a sitting, in which eventually I'll slow it down to about one three hour session every eight weeks (forever). Thing is... I FEEL AMAZING! I feel like a lucky girl!

Here's a small picture of me and my new favorite chair! Anyone have any good books to recommend?

I love how people say,

"people can't drive when it rains here"
That's everywhere, people. I was on a conference call with like 40 people from 40 different places in the United States and everyone answered with, "here too".

let's embrace that it sucks driving when it rains and it's a national problem and not just where YOU live.

ok, I'm going to sit back and do my work now and quit thinking about my commute home.

however, I'll be listening to Florence and the Machine's song, "Dog Days Are Over". I'm in LOVE with it.

I am obsessed with San Francisco jewelry designer Jan Michaels. I bought this ring below in onxy and gold... it's huge, its awesome and I have gotten countless amounts of compliments on it. Do I ever buy simple understated jewelry? No. I have the most perfect engagement ring that defines exactly that. Why would I want to compete? So, I buy large, statement, obnoxious jewelry that could honestly be used as weapons if need be. :)

I right now have an obsession with rings and shoes. I'm in trouble.

I went to a FREE music festival!
Like, for real... FREE! I love Richard Branson and his Virgin FreeFests!

My favorite act was Temper Trap, they were/are amazing. Ed Sharpe put on a much better show than he did at 930 a couple months ago. As always here are some pictures from my great Saturday afternoon. :) We can't wait for Austin City Limits!

and this is my favorite picture with my favorite person. a perfect afternoon.

Check out my awesome new ring! It's a House of Harlow creation (nicole richie's jewelry line) and I have been eyeing it for about 2 weeks and finally pulled the trigger and bought it. It's definitely a statement ring and I just LOVE it. Scott on the other hand... "what is that?" is what came out of his mouth the second I came home so excited about it. Hahahahaa! I still love it.

Hi ring, I love you!
check out my new favorite coozie from OBX! If this isn't a conversation starter I don't know what is! It's a hole in the wall tiny place that sells really big and greasy good biscuits and well, porn. Pretty original name, yes?

I bought a couple... leave me a comment telling me how awesome I am and I'll pick a winner to send it to you. Carly isn't allowed to win though, I don't have enough money to send to Australia. ;)
Ok, now for a little catch-up...

Over the Labor Day Weekend we made our way south to the Outer Banks, North Carolina. It's otherwise known on the east coast as OBX. Our trip had a little detour as we had hurricane Earl on our heels and the coast was evacuated so we had to stay the night in Norfolk, VA where we watched the COCKS BEAT SOUTHERN MISS at a local Hooters. Yes, Hooters. To make it even better, there was NO ONE there, BUT, we did end up winning which is always nice. :) We also hit up Busch Gardens for five hours that afternoon. Scottie was so amazed at how they serve beer at the theme park. It's owned by Anheuser-Busch... Busch Gardens... BEER! COASTERS! Carrie got sick... no more beers and coasters, I wait. haha!

Tom very upset at hurricane Earl for messing up our plans.
Us cheering on the cocks at hooters.
We woke up early and made our way down to OBX - nags head to be precise. The weather ended up being perfect and we had such a great time hanging out with friends and making fun of Tom.

Us checking out the post-hurricane waves from Earl

Tom hanging out on the sand with his hair pants.
We ended up leaving on Sunday and driving north to my parents lake house to see my grandparents who drove down from PA. Scottie and I knee boarded and ended the long weekend roasting marshmellows and talking about how football. Such a great weekend. What did yall do?

Sorry for being MIA again... I tend to go into hiding every once in a while. :)

I went wedding dress shopping and I didn't think I'd like it as much as I did. It was SO much fun. The dresses are so pretty and well, unlike anything I'd wear EVER so I did it up... trying on everything! I realized that I am not a lace, bead or sparkle girl -- not that shocking if you know me. I did find one that I absolutely LOVE. I like to go home and dream about a big purchase for a little before buying so that's what Ive been doing... dreaming and really thinking that that's the dress for me!

no pictures... huzby might look at this!

Dear Carly,

My lovely little Aussie friend living in the land down unda... This would be our favorite song if we were living in LA together still! I listen to it when Scott's not around to make fun of me. :)

(unofficial video) click here

Remember this Mississippi Mud night? I do!
So we went to San Francisco last week to visit some of Scottie's friends and family. I absolutely LOVE San Francisco and to say we had a good time would be an understatement! We arrived late Wednesday night, went straight to bed, woke up early and explored the city yet again.
Thursday night we went to Slims Bar and saw the greatness that is Brandon Flowers (lead singer of The Killers) solo act. He was great. He was more than great, even though his set wasn't more than 45 minutes. His new stuff is catchy and his voice is clean. He covered "Betty Davis Eyes" like I've never heard and am even more in love with him. Camera's were strictly forbidden, but, I snuck my huge one up there and snapped this one of him.
Friday we headed to Muir Woods in Marin, SF. The trees there are SO MASSIVE and OLD! It was so refreshing to be in such a beautiful forest, i swear you could hear the trees talking. We were fortunate enough to get there very early so we were the only people walking the paths at times. I could have spent hours there.
dont' you just love that photo above? I do.

Friday night we headed to the Warfield Theater to check out Ghostland Observatory yet again! As always, they put on a great show... wasn't too happy with the E'd out crowd though. Ah well, I guess I'm getting old. *gasp*

Saturday was a day in Marin to visit with family and have a pool party! Happy Birthday, Lisa!

Dear San Francisco, I had a wonderful time. I can't wait to go back and visit!
Random Wednesday Presents...

Scottie got an iMac Pro! Now I can call HIM a nerd for being on the computer! :)

I once again have been a bad blogger friend.

I have been busy with going on fun trips, concerts and then getting one HELL of an ear infection. Who gets ear infections over the age of 7? Me.

I promise to have pics for you up tomorrow!

Hope everyone is having a great week! the weather has cooled down in the Washington, DC area and it's lovely.

YEY!

I have booked the ever amazing Justine Ungaro as my wedding photographer. I am SO excited! Justine and I went to high school together and we even lived in LA at the same time but never got around to meeting up. She's a phenomenal photographer, see her stuff here... click.
I cannot WAIT for her to do our wedding, been grinning ear to ear since its been finalized. YEY!

this is just funny... back in the early 2000's my sister and I started a website called Mandrama.com. it was a site that focused on quotes that men would say when they were fired up. The definition we made up for MANDRAMA was,  "A sensational dramatic remark with exaggerated emotion that reveals the anxiety of the speaker." Why am I telling you this? Because Justine actually shot our promo pictures since radio shows were doing segments on it and us and magazines were curious. We eventually got bored of the site even though it was pretty popular (we had about 1500 hits a day), so marvin sister to get bored quickly, ha! Anyways, here are the shots Justine captured of us back then. So funny!

how ridiculous is that? However, the shoot was fun!

now this is MY kinda wedding cake!
its a CHEESE WEDDING CAKE! No, not a cheese cake... a CHEESE wedding cake. I love it! I don't like sweets OR cake so this would be the way I would roll if it were a perfect world. Too bad my sister and mother would kill me. They are in charge of wedding cake tasting. I'll just shove it in Scott's face. ;) I kid.

Arcade Fire and Spoon

On Friday Scottie and crossed state lines and ventured north into Maryland to see my all time favorite band of all time... Arcade Fire.

just a little excited in the above picture, huh?

To put it mildly, they were incredible. There were about 8 people on stage at all times and every one of them were engulfed in the instrument they were playing. in my little opinion, this is the band of our generation. a U2 if you will. They inspire, they are lyric driven and they are all so musically driven. They are not publicity crazy, the write music they want to listen to and it seems that everyone else does too. Their most recent record, Suburbs is fantastic but not my favorite. Id have to say that Funeral takes the cake still. Arcade Fire played all their hits as well as their new songs and the energy the crowd had and the harmony of the instruments and the audience was chilling. I still get goose bumps watching the movie memories in my head. It was a night to remember in my life. If you aren't an Arcade Fire fan yet, I strongly recommend jumping on the wagon... its a great little ride.

one of the best parts of the evening was that the lead singer of Spoon was standing directly behind us with his cute little son on his shoulders jamming with us. so awesome.

could The Real Housewives of DC be anymore boring?

seriously.

So I watched three kids this week and I had so much fun. Three kids is a lot but they were great kids and they were so fun and creative. We went to the park, made yarn octopus's, ate mac and cheese and just had a good time. I was a little sad when it was over; not as tired, but still a little sad. :) Am I ready to have kids yet? NO!

Happy Friday everyone! I'm off to see Arcade Fire tonight and Kings of Leon tomorrow night. Im in LOVE with this weekend already! What are yall up to?

PS: football season is almost here!
*jumping up and down!*
