Memorial Day

We spent the three day weekend down in Southern VA with both our parents and had such a great time. The weather was on the cooler side this year, but, I didn't mind at all. I would rather it be 70's during the day and 50's at night than have heavy humidity so you're miserable. We did a lot of relaxing, talking, laughing, playing baseball and eating -- I cooked a lot of food!

Monticello - Thomas Jefferson's Home. What an amazing property.

Thomas Jefferson's Garden

So happy when both our parents can visit and all of us hang out. We are very lucky.

Gorgeous Day

Kirbo is a fantastic strawberry picker.

I fell in love with the small town of Charlottesville, VA

Pop's wanted a tree taken down ... that means Kirbo gets the hatchet.

Will ALWAYS be pretty in pink

This weekend my parents and Scottie's parents were together in southern Virginia for the holiday. While we had them both in one spot, we decided to take advantage of that and plant a pink dogwood tree at my parents lake house in memory of my sweet little Dylan Mae. I chose a pink dogwood because its such a delicate but strong tree and the pink blossoms remind me of her cheeks, and, not to mention that EVERYTHING I bought for her was that pale pink. It was definitely her color.

We spread some of her ashes in the dirt and had a little moment for her. She is now associated with beauty and life with this tree and we can always enjoy it and watch it grow. I like that feeling much better than a funeral, which we never had. She is now my little pink blossom and that's exactly how I want to feel and remember.

Here is a picture of a dogwood blossom. Isn't it beautiful?

Lots of love,

Weekend

I hope everyone had a great weekend! Even though the skies were wet and misty for most of the weekend, we did our best to make the most out of it. We went into the city, stumbled upon a dance parade, ate lunch, drank some mimosa's and bloody mary's and then relaxed back at home and stayed dry with Macky Dog.

My parents were in town during the week for a conference. Its always nice to have mama and papa Marv in the city, if only for a couple of days.

We had to check out Orly Genger's art installation in Madison Square Park on Saturday. Its 1.4 million feet of painted, knotted and layered rope that would cover the city of Manhattan 20x over if stretched out.

Isn't that so pretty?

Stumbled upon a dance parade near Union Square.

Yes!

If you go to the downtown NR train subway station there are these beautiful mosaic hats on the wall, so naturally, we had to do a photos shoot.

Yes, he really did shave those chops in again. And yes, I do love olives from a Bloody Mary... however, that Mary wasn't so great.

I'm Shipping Up To Boston - SHORT

My first attempt at an app movie. Excuse the shaky cam and lack of footage. Now that I'm obsessed, and know what I'm doing, I'll do better next time.

Shippin Off To Boston!

We decided to celebrate Mother's Day -- or totally avoid it completely -- by heading up North up i95 to Boston, MA for a little dinner and baseball. Boston is such a charming city. Its architecture, gold plated Irish bar signs, flower boxes, Italian restaurants and incredible seafood make it one of my favorite cities to visit. Its also home to the greatest baseball stadium in the country, Fenway. And, on Sunday, we got to see Fenway in the most amazing way. 1st row and a behind the scenes tour. We are the LUCKIEST and extremely grateful!

relaxation on the highway

AWESOME restaurant we ate at on Saturday night. I would have taken pics of the food and jazz singers but we were too busy having a great time! Go see for yourself, The Beehive.

Early morning selfies in the rain.

On the field! Yep, I took some pretend batting practice while Scott stood horrified. :)

Even though the team lost, we had an amazing time. These seats were AMAZING

Oh, that's just Kirbo swaping stories with the Blue Jays coach, Gibbons. (seriously)
Did you know that the blue seats are original seats from the early 1900's? Yeah, learned that on the tour. They get refurbished every few years. Love the history here!

Cheesin'. Thank you, LL! You made a day that could have been crappy, so So SO HAPPY!

The Great Gatsby

I was lucky enough to go to an early showing of The Great Gatsby tonight. I did not go in with very high hopes, only because I really loved Moulin Rouge and who didn't go nuts over Romeo + Juliet? I didn't think he could top those two movies.

However, Baz Luhrmann did not upset, yet again. The movie is fast, the movie is fun, energetic, magical, colorful, heart warming, heart breaking, exciting and worth every buttery popcorn kernel and oz of sugary large drink I shoved down my throat.

Thank you, Sissy for the awesome invitation and free movie!! Oh, and for Leonardo DiCaprio OWNING the role of Gatsby. He is fantastic!

Friday Tunes

Happy Friday, Friends!

Here is a track from Timid Tiger  - The Sun Goes Down, The Streets Are Black. In my opinion, don't watch the video, he looks a bit stiff. However, I really love how they use the sounds of the streets in the video.

What are your plans for the weekend? I have a long lost friend coming up for 24 hours. I'm very excited to see this crazy dude!! In our younger years, we were in 1st grade together but then he moved away to a different neighborhood. When we met back up in 8th grade I went to make sure he was the same kid in my 1st grade class, but, then noticed I couldn't. I had X'd his face out to where he pretty much didn't exist in my yearbook. How rude. He must have pissed me off.

Once again, "thank you" TomSaun for the hint to listen to these dudes.

And, since I totally left ya hanging last Friday with no tunes (how did you survive?) Here is my current guilty pleasure... Icona Pop - I Don't Care. This reminds me of my sister and I living together in the early 00's, being reckless, traveling, being obnoxious and really feeling like, "I DON'T CARE, I LOVE IT!" While angering everyone around us.

Have a great weekend, everyone! Its supposed to be an amazing weekend (weather wise) up here in NYC! I will make the best of it, blast the above songs and LOVE IT!

xoxo,
C

I LOVE Shoes

I was walking down 5th Ave this afternoon, enjoying the amazing weather we are finally getting and saw THESE in the Bergdorf's window. Stoppitnow!

They are AMAZING Christian Louboutin spiked heels and they literally made me stop dead in my tracks.

I absolutely LOVE shoes. I always have and I always will, (sorry huzbo). They are just amazing and can snap up any outfit (which is usually jeans and a t-shirt, yes, even to work). My issue with shoes however, is the price of a lot of them. Im not a big fan of spending more than $75.00 on a pair of shoes (you can thank me now, huzbo). The pieces of art below, clearly that is what they are after I tell you the price are incredible. Incredibly expensive!!!! $1515.00. Yep. What is the most you have ever or would ever spend on a pair of shoes? I think I top out at $220 for a pair of boots that I bought three years ago and still wear. If only I could be as careless as Carrie Bradshaw and her shoes addiction! There is still time. (Sorry huzbo).

#

My husband and I play a little game on the subway. It's a sort of urban fishing, if you will. We snap pictures of sleeping people in the subways and hashtag it on Instagram as, #iseeyouz . The "z" is for sleeping, for those who don't get it (c'mon, Ma!)

Feel free to join in... It can be anyone sleeping anywhere other than a bed.

The more odd the better, in my opinion!!

Happy hashtagging! If you check it out on Instagram, Scottie has some AMAZING ones!
