Day eight: I'm thankful that I was schooled for free in Fairfax County. Moving to all these cities makes you appreciate how amazing our schooling was and for the experiences we had.

Day Nine: I'm thankful for Scottie getting wireless for our place so I can watch T.V. and work at the same time.

Day Ten: I'm thankful for my oldest brother for passing on his enthusiasm for sports to me at a young age (mainly football) and him also for emailing me to remind me that I am falling behind again on my things I'm thankful for. :) Thanks,  Bro.

Just a few facts about my oldest Brother:
  • He knows everything there is to know about College Football.
  • He can smoke any meat and make it taste AH MAZE ING.
  • His T.V room has three TV's on one wall so its like you're in a sports bar. Its a football Saturday dream.
  • When he was in high school he had a sweet hairdo that slightly resembled Flock Of Seagulls.
  • He was a massive The Cure fan.
  • He has two boys who are extremely talented at beating me up.
  • I was homesick in college my freshmen year and called him because I was upset and he made fun of me, imitated my crying and made me laugh and realize that I was being an idiot.
  •  He doesn't get mad at me when I heckle him about my little Gamechickens beating his Bama Boys this year.
  • One of my fondest memories of us hanging out was in Columbia, South Carolina... just he and I getting free beers at a music festival and having a great day introducing him my friends and getting him drunk.
  • He should really come visit me in Philly!
 Happy Friday!

I'm five days behind on my THANKFULS! Here's my catch up:

Day Three: I'm thankful that I'm capable of throwing trash in a trashcan because Philadelphians really need to learn that skill.

Day Four: I'm thankful that my parents live close enough to drive up to take Scottie and I out to dinner and enjoy conversation and share hugs.

Day Five: I'm thankful that I own hats, gloves and a heavy jacket because its fricken freezing outside.

Day Six: I'm thankful that my brother enjoys teaching so much. I love hearing his stories about how he connects with his students and it makes me fondly remember the teachers that touched me. (ok, no teachers actually touched me... you get what I mean. I am laughing so hard right now).

Day Seven: I'm thankful for my cell phone because the dude next to me on the train wants to talk but I'm pretending im very, very busy on my iphone.

YEY! Caught up.

i put up a tumblr of all my northern liberties street art I find.

easier.

Reasons why I LOVE this photo so much...

1. RuPaul is with Nirvana
2. Kurts Fly is open (and is button fly)
3. Dave Ghrol looks like a 13 year old cheerleader and is wearing mom jeans.
4. I want Kurt's sunnies right now.
5. The 90's were awesome.

day two.
of my Things to Be Thankful For

I'm thankful I'm not the lady on the other end of my phone right now who works for medical insurance and is getting a verbal lashing.

Because I've been faced with a few challenges this week I'm going to turn it all around and do a
THIRTY DAYS OF BEING THANKFUL

So every day for thirty days I will write something here.

Day one.
I'm thankful for my fiance for being amazing, loving, funny and having the greatest hugs in the world. Without him I wouldn't want to know me. :)

Political?

my love taking a few seconds of sunshine in through our apartment window.
always take a few moments to enjoy the sunshine. Winter time on the East Coast, doing this is VERY important. Come on SPRING!
Just some more neighborhood street art for you. This was found on 3rd Street.
Love the bold colors.

GET!

Head on over to the Origins Facebook page and click on the “Free Sample” tab to request a FREE sample of Origins Nature’s Plantscription Anti-aging Serum!

I have been using this for a month now... as my sister said that its been getting rave reviews in the beauty industry. (I'm uber lucky... she gets all the good stuff before they go on sale to the public). I love how soft it makes your skin and I will say that I have noticed some difference in my skin from using it. Try it out for yourself... nothing better than a FREE sample of it. :)

Saturday we decided to venture out into the cold and run some errands and try some new places. We drove around downtown and I am happy to report that I am extremely happy with where we decided to live. While being in the hustle and bustle may be good for some, I like a neighborhood feel. Northern Liberties is far from suburbs or non-city living, but it has some parks and row homes that make it feel more like a village outside the city then a bunch of condos and sky scrapers. Oh, and I can see sunshine of both sides of the street. YEY!  I love the quirkiness of the place, the random art and close knit community (seemingly). Happy.

Me in Northern Liberties.
We also took a walk up the street to check out a coffee spot called One Shot. Good coffee, cute house, and look at these?! I couldn't order one because to me... this seems disgusting. But, I bet my sister would LOVE them. :)

And, finally... HAPPY VALENTINES DAY to the love of my life, Scottie. He's the greatest man in the world, I'm lucky to have him and he makes me smile every time I see him. I can't wait for our V-Day Dinner tonight. Kisses!

lottery, please pick me to win

Foo Fighters headlining Lollapoolooza? (along with Muse and Eminem)

Heaven.

The Foo headlined ACL 3 years ago and it was the best closing festival show I've seen in a very long time. I really love Dave Ghrol. Love him more that he's from Virginia. I really need to make more money or win the lotto. So many fun things going on!

AWESOME!

Now THIS is a GREAT GIFT for any celebration!

Let Me, Let Me, Let Me...

I have been seeing these little boxey dudes all over my neighborhood on the bottom of run down buildings and I'm becoming quite obsessed with them. They are always singing a song too, even better! This one is singing a Morrissey song -- love!

All this street art has made me think of the documentary "Exit Through the Gift Shop". Its a doc about the legendary street artist Banksy but has a surprising twist. I highly recommend it.

just a taste

Here's a photo of our dining room/living room area. Aren't those blue lights awesome? I'm a fan when I don't hit my head on them. We still have a lot of work to do, but its coming along little by little.

Here's a close up of the bookshelf. I have some more work to do on the third shelf, its a work in progress. And yes, the walls are pink. Your eyes are not deceiving you but we wish they were deceiving us.
*sigh*

We are awaiting confirmation from our landlord to see if we can paint them. They really are peptobismol pink. How did we MISS THAT when we looked at the place?

Little by little we are getting there! Almost, Home Sweet Home.

Buffalo

I will start posting the interesting Philly street art I see around the city.

Not entirely sure what it means, but I like it!

New Views

So, we have finally moved into our new place. Its rather large and we are trying hard to make it ours. Isn't it weird that you can move somewhere completely new but still have some of your old (couch, chair, etc) that make you comfortable? I appreciate those things the most. Our floors are polished concrete so it's coooooooooold, we need to buy rugs. Our bathroom is open, meaning there is no door to the master toilet. We need to buy a spring rod and shower curtain. Our closet is HUGE. We need to buy more clothes. That one I like. :)
We do love our new place and our new neighborhood. We went bar hopping on Saturday with my sister and her boyfriend (they came down from NYC to help us move in) and Philly people aren't so bad! haha! Sounds so funny, but, when you grow up hating Eagles fans you have no choice but to blast this northern city.

I promise to put up more pictures as the place gets more and more settled. But for now, here is a photo of our view. We absolutely LOVE it.

I WANT...

REALLY BADLY!

I hate packing.

I hate packing.

I hate packing.

I hate it.

I do.

Tuesday, February 1, 2011

Was listening to the radio this morning and heard the following topic from a morning DJ,

"does taste in music affect your relationship?"

Seems completely silly to say that it would or does. But then... I started thinking... and I totally agree!
When Scott starts playing his dance/electro/pokeyoureyesout music I literally leave the apartment and continue to work in the office lobby. Now, to dig deeper into this,
"does taste in music affect your relationship to where its a deal breaker?"
No. Thankfully.

However, some of those "songs" sound like video games I watched my brothers play in the 80's. I sound like an old fart... but, I did the whole electro/danceyerfaceoff genre in the 90's in London. Just can't be matched. BAM!

You can yell at me later, Scott. I love you. :)

Anyone else have an ear challenge from their bf/gf/roommate/sibling/PARENT?!
