I went to see Ed Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros last night at 930 club in DC. Ive seen them before in LA and while both venues were great, the audience was vastly different. The DC crowd jumped, danced and sang all the songs and enjoyed every part of the hippy pow wow in front of them. I danced, jumped and sang and did the fastest clap my two hands have ever experienced. To say I enjoyed myself would be an understatement. This band just knows how to deliver, and deliver well. Ed Sharpe puts together in a nice blender two genres, folk and pop and makes it deliciously unique and craving more.
Ed Sharpe came out in his Jesus like robes and bare feet, Jade came running in an hour late, and all the other 10 members casually played their instruments like they were toys. The talents in this band are immense... I mean, they had a sitar player at one point and slide guitarist, LOVE! The encore came with two new songs which was ballsy for a band. Ed walked into the crowd and asked everyone to sit down -- and, everyone did -- the powers of a musician. He sang the song, "brother" and all was quiet. What a spectacular show and what a way to go home happy and satisfied on a Tuesday evening. I was so happy I didn't even care that I lost gangsta gold (my point and shoot camera). Ok, I care a little.

i took my 4 year old nephew to a concert... a kids concert. The band Rocknocerous played at the Jammin Java and I don't think I have ever seen so many kids dancing like complete lunatics in my life. They were LOVIN this stuff by three guys who taught them lessons then rocked out to an electric guitar, drums and vocals. The songs are beyond kids cheesy, but, that's what it's supposed to be right? Im proud to say that Nico (my neph) was right in the middle for half of it totally getting his face melted. haha!

Future rock star? god, I hope so!
He's a Giants fan and I'm a Nats fan.
battle!

Nats won this game, Giants won the next two. Stupid Nats. :)

Happy Anniversary, Lovey!

Today Scottie and I will celebrate our one year anniversary and I couldn't be more happy and excited. I have met my prince charming -- I am a lucky girl! This is a special one for us because it's our first and LAST anniversary as a dating couple as we'll be married in May of 2011! Couldn't be more proud and happy with the direction my life is going. My little childhood dreams are coming true with finding the man on my dreams! Who knew it really could come true! *gush*

yes, i can at times be a sap. Especially with him.
Happy Wednesday, everyone!
Life is Amazing.

lovey, you should totally get me a lil pup. :)

This past weekend Scott and I traveled to a little town called Wyalusing, PA which is in the north eastern part of the Pennsylvannia mountains. In the 2000 census the towns population was 564. Since I had two more cousins born there the census has probably grown to over 566 now, HA! Anyways, the town is absolutely adorable and gorgeous. It's green pastures, winding river and incredible red barns made this little get-away so welcome from the grind that is Washington, DC.

Check out some scenery shots:

My cousin was getting married to her long time boyfriend, Ethan here and it was so fun to be around a lot of my family once again. We really only all get together with the extended relatives at Thanksgiving and even then it's not everyone. BUT, we did get to see a couple and it was so fun. We danced, we sang, we took a ton of pics and grabbed plenty of beers from the beer buggy and punch bowls of liquor. MY KINDA WEDDING! Tif's husband played for the Bangles for a few years so there were some football players there, most noticably this guy. He was MASSIVE!

Congrats, Tiffy! You looked beautiful and your wedding was a blast!

I still sell some photos off my etsy store here and there... click here (shameless plug) but, check out my new handmade thank you cards i have made for my purchasers. Aren't they the cutest? I love monkeys and balloons. That photo, "sisters" is my second highest seller... one of my faves too.

*Yep, I'm doing this at work. boreddddddddddddddddddddd.

Tonight Scottie and I are headed back to Nationals Stadium to see his beloved Giants (he's orig from San Fran area) battle the Nationals phenom pitcher Strasburg. It will no doubt be a vicious battle between us and our opposing team hats. I hope the Nats win only because it's so fun to be a really bad winner around him. rub it in. I'm so annoying.

Secondly, my beautiful cousin Tifany is getting married tomorrow so we are waking up at the crack of dawn to drive to northern PA to see her walk down the aisle. Tif lives in Atlanta now with her soon to be hubby who used to play for the Cincinnatti Bangels ... I would die if Ocho Cinco showed up! Can't wait to see her and meet Ethan! Scott will FINALLY meet some of the rest of my family too! He should be nervous. ;)

Happy Weekend, Everyone!

i have a girl crush

... and it's on Zooey Deschanel.

I ventured back over to 815 7th street at the 930 club on a balmy 107 degree night (i am not exaggerating... it was really 107 degrees) and walked into the most packed night i have ever seen there. If its not a "dancy" show i think 930 packs it more and when i say packed, I mean we were bunched like sardines. We all waited anxiously as the Chapin Sisters finished their set. (just so you know, the sisters were great... very folky, very harmonic and not at all boring. I fell in love with their voices). Around 930p She and Him made it to the stage. She and Him consists of movie star, Zooey Deschanel (Elf, The Happening, 500 Days of Summer -my fave) and singer songwriter M Ward.

First, she's tiny. like, tinier than you immediately think. I wouldn't venture to say she's no taller than 5'2. She's pixie'ish yet hipster with a hippy flare. Her voice belongs in the 50's and her lyrics belong in fairy tales or heartbroken emo poems, either way, I was in love. She's simply lovely. Had I not had a massive man in front of me to where I had to strain my neck to see the littlest bit of her (and really, there's not that much of her) I would have sat and listened to her all night. She's adorable, she can sing and M Ward... you are just the bomb with your acoustic strums and light as a feather vocals.

I would have taken pictures except all cameras were banned from the show and they literally made people carry their cameras back to their cars or check them into the ticket office. Why go on stage if you don't want your picture taken? Hollywood will always be Hollywood at the end of the day even if you are a pint sized cutie with a gramma dress on 90% of the time.

save the dates

I have to start looking to do SAVE THE DATES and frankly, i don't love the traditional ones that people send out. Scottie and I aren't the type of couple that sits under trees with matching white shirts and are barefoot staring into the sunset. I have a few kooky ideas here and there but wanted to know if anyone had seen any really RAD ones.

as of now, this is what im going to send out via text...

just kidding. but, that's pretty awesome.

random thought that's been buggin me. When I read about Save The Dates a lot of the time they acronym it to STD's. I think that is completely ridiculous and hilarious. I do not think of wedding happiness when i hear the three letters STD's put together. We gotta change that.

happy hump day... pun intended.

healthy cooking

as Ive mentioned before, I love cooking. It's a way to disappear in your own little kitchen world and whip up something to make someone elses taste buds happy, (such as huzby's). I don't cook like Ina Garten where I start every recipe with a stick of butter or Paula Deen's "everything is better fried" mentality but I could do better. What I'm asking is, does anyone have any suggestions for a healthy cooking cookbook or website? I see a lot with just a mad variety of salads. Now, salads are great, but I get tired of lettuce... my apologies to lettuce. You are good, but I get sick of you very fast. anyways... now that I am finished apologizing to produce I'd like to ask for your favorite HEALTHY recipes. Any for tofu would be rad. either put a recipe in the comments or send me a link in the comments... I'll be forever grateful and so will huzby.

i heart 4th of July

I had a wonderful 4th and couldn't have asked for a better one. We went tubing, water skiing, knee boarding and had canoe races down at our place in Spotsylvannia, Va. We all crashed no later than 10:30p because of pure exhaustion of non-stop sporting! So much fun. Here's a photo of the group on the lake before the fireworks went off.

Hope everyone had a great weekend too!

me new favorite quote...

... that i just printed out and put in my wallet.

repeated twice... frustration gone. IT WORKS!

*smiles*

Im registering for my wedding right now at target. I don't know why I haven't started doing this like 5 years ago... it's SO FUN! I just click "add to registry" and its there just waiting to be bought. Bought for ME! ok, and Scott too, but, really... is he going to use all these fun kitchen things that I am absolutely drooling over? Probably not. I love cooking, most wouldn't know that because I like to pretend to be "domestically challenged" to friends so they don't make me make them dinner. Bratty I know... love me. Anyways, look what I just registered for...

its so ugly I love it. 1. i don't even know what it is... a cannister of some sort? 2. No one else would jump for joy over this unless you grew up in Columbia, South Carolina or went to school there. it has a COCK on it... I'm a GAMECOCK! (get your minds out of the gutter). I think I will register for like 8 of these.
PS: The Gamecocks just won the Baseball National Championship... we never win these big trophies so this is like... a BIG DEAL!
(zip it, Scott).

Ok, back to picking everything and anything for my registery basket. I'll let you know if I come across anything else that deems worthy of boring you on my blog with.

Tootles!
